// And Then There Was One...

Tear... It is true ladies and gentleman, the beloved Stephanie is leaving Whatever, and so we say goodbye to are best member yet to leave...

Stephanie started her blogging career with Whatever right when the blog was just a baby blog, as her first post was on June 6th, 2004. She continued to post all throughout her grad year year as well as two summers with Whatever. She blogged all the way into the beginning of her first year at UBC and now is calling it quits. She was by far the best member to ever leave the blog. We will miss her very much.

It is true, I did bug my members about not posting and I was always all about the posts which ultimately ended up with bad results. Not that I thought I was actually putting pressure on my members, but as I've noticed, people can't tell your tone over a website, email, messenger, and so on. Sometimes you can't tell if there serious, joking, and so on and so on. Again, I didn't mean to put pressure on Stephanie so much that she would find it no fun anymore. Many apologies.

As for posts that don't make you smile, I can't do anything about that! Hahaha... I use this blog for my own personal use, posting about Whatever I want. I don't usually going telling people about all life's problems so I post them up, and then people know whats going on if they have any advice or what not. I don't tend on keeping my life a secret or anything but I mean I'm just an open kind of guy. Plus I've loved looking back at older posts to see what I've overcome in the past. A teacher said to us on Monday life is all about a series of problems to solve. As much as that probably isn't true, it still has a good point. So I like to look back at my past problems and what not. Nobody said life was easy, and it sure isn't a walk in the park for me either.

My reaction has been a little bit of a disappointed one, since I somehow figured that having Stephanie as a part of this was my last way of holding onto what I used to have with her, and all my friends in the very origins of the blog. Now it's just me in the blog, and somehow I feel all alone; it's me against the world.

Come post comments any time Steph, and for sure you can stay with Whatever Music. So now... Here is my first ever post... With no other members on the famous blog Whatever...

Walk on.

// Good night, good night.

I am leaving Whatever!.

When we first started this blog, it was hilarious. Post weird things, get weird responses, learn something weird... whatever! But it's no longer "whatever". It seems as if this blog has turned into one big giant post count. And often, when I post, I don't post because I feel like there's something interesting I want to share or because I want to. I post because otherwise, Matt starts complaining that no one is posting. And considering it's been just the two of us for a long time, often that's directed at me. I'm just gonna be honest: this blog isn't fun for me anymore.

Matt, all the power to you. This blog is great, but it's not for me. It's your blog, really. You post about your life and sometimes, they're not the happiest posts and that's understandable. Life is never perfect. But reading what you say sometimes gets me down. And I just don't feel like that's why I joined this blog in the first place. I've got a Livejournal that I also keep on the side, but that's not open to the general public and that's where I write all my "not-so-happy" posts. I'm just not a huge fan of taking it out on the open internet.

I'm posting this out here because I'd like to be honest. To Matt and to everyone else who reads this blog. It's been a good run. I noticed the other day... this blog has been in existance for over a year. That's amazing for any sort of project. Especially when blogs are started each and every day on this thing called the world wide web. In no way am I trying to cut down on this blog or Matt or Nicole (who's only recently joined), but it's just not for me anymore. But I'd like to continue posting in the Whatever! Music blog if that's cool with you, Matt. But if you don't, that's cool too. Just let me know.

Cheers to you all. It's been a good show.

// Matthew's Christmas List!

Keeping with tradition, i'm posting my Christmas list for this year! I ususally make a list every year for my family so I also post it up on the blog, just to help anybody!

Ice Skates or Roller Blades - I need some ice skates and roller blades, not cheap ones either, like good quality! Just a thought!

Memorabilia - Any memorabilia or souvenirs are cool. Such as things I can hang in my room or like collector items. Stuff to do with like hockey milestones, U2, anything like that.

Barenaked on a Stick - it is a USB flash memory drive containing songs, videos, and exclusive content from the Barenaked Ladies. The 128mg USB flash memory drive (about the size of your pinky finger) is a fast and easy way to share music, videos, pictures and other data. It is PC/Mac compatible, re-usable and incredibly low priced at $29.98. Available on Amazon.com and Werkshop.com

Trains - Van Hobbies has a huge sale, so you can't go wrong with saving some money on trains! They have Silver Walther VIA Cars there and I would love some more VIA. Also need another N Scale locomotive, preferably a smaller locomotive and one that is Kato.

Playstation 2 - I need a multi tap and new controllers as well as a remote! I would love some new games, maybe some racing games, fighting games, war games, something like Tom Clancy… ask Amrit for help on this one!

Hockey Equimpment - I need a new blocker, glove, and a goalie stick. Gift card works well for sports check or something too

Pool Table - what the hec, maybe Santa will treat me this year

Random Stuff - Neon Lights! I don’t know, anything that looks like something I would like would work

Books - There all about U2, but I'd love to learn more.

// Sushi!

I feel like such a Summiter now... yeah, I'm cool! I got back from Sushi with Andrew and his team of rebels, and I really enjoyed myself! I assume Andrew will post with some pictures on ranDOMinion when he gets back and I'm sure he'll be able to explain it a bit better. I'm only righting about it now because I have my first college party tonight! Wow...look at me, going to sushi with college people, first college party, yeah, i'm growing up! So yeah, I figure I'd get back late so I might as well post now since I have a free afternoon!

Heads up to all you RPC people, I'm making a return to Sunday night to tell you a bit about God's word, and how cool he is. Yep, I'm speaking on December 18th! I have a general theme, and it doesn't really tie in with Christmas, but I feel this is something I need to say. I'll tie in Christmas in there sometime soon.

I tried to get the countdown back up! Problems have occured! Help me out somebody! (hint hint andrew)

// 17 Frosties Please!

Highlight of the night: Matt (one of the leaders from Tenth) and I went to pick up some frosties for the kids after Planet Lazer. We went up to the cashier and were like 'we'll get 17 frosties.' Oh my goodness, you should have seen the look on her face! She had to double check with us like 5 times to make sure we wern't joking!

Planet Lazer was fun! You know, being a youth leader is pretty awesome! You get into everything for free! Awesome! Free lazer tag! I completly schooled everyone, and I didn't even feel bad about it! It was really funny, in the second game there were two groups. The first group was the "Protect Matt because he's the best and if we hang around him we'll be the best!" Group. The second was lead by Aaron and it was the "attack the leading scorer group!" Haha...that group did awesome! They had all of there guys in the top ten spots, and it was incredibly funny!

Afterwards chatting about it was funny too... For the first time in a while I feel like i'm apart of something again.

// Yay for my first post!

.. finally! Well I'm sorry Matt that you had a crappy week, while mine was pretty good. Stay strong there Mattonator! Well.. what's new with me? I don't think I'm actually going to quit Little Caesar's.. it's a pretty good place to work for a highschool student. If it's not busy you can just pull out your backpack and do homework! I haven't worked all week, I love the feeling of knowing that I have nothing to do for the whole entire day. It's great.
Does anybody remember the movie "The Sandlot"? I remember that from when I was a little kid.. I just watched it again the other day, I love that movie! "This magic moment" That's one good song.. how about Furn Gully?? Another good movie..
So youth is skating tomorrow.. whoo hoo! I can actually skate. Why do skating arenas always play old hit songs?
SUPERMAN RETURNS!! comes out summer 2006! whoo hoo!

// Why Do You Hate Me World?

When everything falls apart, it seems to all happens at once. Like honestly, give me a break, I'm tired of all this crap that constantly happens to me and over and over and over again. Seriously, was I born to be screwed over?

I just want it to go away... but it won't leave me alone... and I try and I try and I try and I nothing seems to work anymore.

I want a vacation or something.

I went to SRY today...that was semi good fun, was really not what I expected and it kind of made me concerned about what I'm doing almost... this job is no walk in the park.

Let's hear it for 4 straight days of posting with almost zero comments! Woohoo!

// 'N'

I have a road test! On Monday, January 23rd, of the new year, I'll be taking a road test to destroy of my N!

I really had this sentimental attachment to my 'N' because it drove everywhere I went! It had time on the God Father, the Island Mobile, Speedy Reidy, Stacy, and FJ. Unfortunately, due to probably laziness, my 'N' was stolen. You know how people steel 'N's for the heck of it on the back of cars? Yea, my 'N' fell victim to one of those evil people. Really it's my fault because I never put it back in my car, and just left it on my trunk. Everything I got into my car I thought 'I'll put it inside my car next time' and so on and so on. I never thought of just storing it in my trunk because I'm just plain lazy.

I was hoping my 'N' would last me my first 2 driving years, however I am cut short by about 3 months...Tear... That 'N' and I sure had some good times... Speedy Reidy most indefinitely.

So yes, end of an era in January, and I won't have to deal with those stupid 'N' rules, which by the way, are completely ridiculous! Fortunately I didn't have to endure the crappy new 'L' rules. But seriously, who else can agree with me that the new driving rules are stupid? Anyone?

Who else has to get rid of their 'N'? Hey Andrew, you ever get rid of it? I know Shaun still hasn't, and he's had it for years! How about Stephanie?

Go road tests!

// Squamish

Sometimes I love school... I think of all the poor suckers who are all locked up in class rooms, studying up science, working on math, all that kind of stuff, while I'm out in beautiful Squamish... And how beautiful it was. The clouds seemed to just disappear after Horshoe Bay and it was clear and sunny, and even hot at times!

Yes, I was in Squamish today! We were playing with trains! We were at the museum up in Squamish and I decided to look around the museum first, do all the fun stuff at the end of the day. But I mean there all trains its all too much fun! Just one was more fun then the other.

I got to see the Royal Hudson... Long time no see, and it was weird to see it in such a condition it was in. I've seen pictures of her getting restored, but never really seen her in real life with all the running boards taken off and what not. I actually got to go inside the boiler! Wow... I've never done something like that before...

Nick drove a couple of us into Squamish where we went to Burger King! Yea, we felt pretty cool cruising in Squamish... What a nice city it is too! I wouldn't mind living up there, yet then again, I think I would go crazy!

Switching... That was the best part of the day... You may not realize it, but jumping onto moving things is fun! Like really fun! Like holy crap! I've been on a train before, but I never have got to ride on the side! That was completely awesome! It's pretty dangerous, if you screw up it means your life. One of my friends actually jumped off on the wrong foot and ended up falling down. Actually I was the only guy who detrained properly. We learned many other things like switching, and cutting in the air. It really was a fun day!

To think I'm actually going to get paid to do this!?!? Get out of town!

// Driftwood

Driftwood
So that's it?

Matt.
What do you mean "that's it"?

Driftwood.
You know what I mean

Matt.
I was looking for something that wasn't there anymore

Driftwood.
You just can't handle change

Matt.
Not very well at least... Plus, there doing fine without me

Driftwood.
You don't know that

Matt.
Sure I do, I just don't belong

Driftwood.
You used too...

Matt.
Things have changed... for example, first night at Jade's church, I ask him 'did you ever think I would be a leader for your youth group...at another church?'

Driftwood.
Things have changed my friend, do you enjoy where your at?

Matt.
I do, however I hate to see how things have turned out

Driftwood.
You ever think your part of the problem?

Matt.
Of course I am, I know i'm not perfect, but you can only loose so much respect, you know?

Driftwood.
Understandable...still, you ever think of trying to clear things up?

Matt.
I think about it... all the time... but it would never be the same, just wouldn't be able to trust

Driftwood.
It is a shame really, you guys had some good times...

Matt.
Oh yeah... we did, and you never forget those times either, but still, I just don't know...

Driftwood.
You didn't leave because of that reason did you?

Matt.
To say it didn't influence my desicion would be a lie, but I like where I am

Driftwood.
You think the youth miss you?

Matt.
I'm sure they do sometimes... they don't really notice a person is gone, I've seen it happen to others

Driftwood.
How so?

Matt.
Conal...

Driftwood.
You never stopped him

Matt.
I regret it, but still, that is what's happening to me... last Friday I went for the first time in a while, was like I was walking into a new youth group. Only the few said hi... I didn't feel very accepted in my old home, it was a bit weird. I had to go start up conversations, I thought people would be happy to see me. Just didn't seem like it...

Driftwood.
Maybe because of what's going on, the conflicts, the talk and all that jazz?

Matt.
Very possible, but both you and I don't know that

Driftwood.
True

Matt.
It feels as if I'm in a war almost... i'm out number though, heavily. Nobody seems to believe...

Driftwood.
You've had a rough year... maybe this change is good for you

Matt.
It is, but I didn't want this to end the way it has. This was my area of refuge, to come and relax. I don't know what went wrong

Driftwood.
You miss it

Matt.
Sure do

Driftwood.
You believe this is the end?

Matt.
Unfortunatly yes... the end of an era, I don't believe I should completly end it

Driftwood.
You already have...

// Frank.

"Some people are just born with tragedy in their blood."

I watched Donnie Darko again last night. Well, technically this morning because I finished at 3 AM. But wow. That movie is the only movie I know of that can make a kiss look so honest. But it truly is one of the most awkwardly beautiful movies I've ever seen. Just the way how Donnie knows he's cursed... it's heartbreaking at times. I'm still trying to work things out in my head. It's one of those movies where you gotta watch it a million times before everything finally makes sense.

It makes tragedy look beautiful.

// A new definition of life.

I can almost feel myself growing up. It's kind of a strange feeling. It's nice though.

It's like, suddenly... I've got more formulated and intelligent responses and opinions on a variety of issues. I guess this one is because of school. Man, when they say higher learning, they mean it. School takes everything to another level completely. The things we discuss in class... wow. I'm not the most talkative person in class, but just to be able to sit in such surroundings... it's good to listen and learn.

Lately, I've been scouting out different things to try. New music, new adventures, new plans. It feels fantastic to be able to make plans and to know that I'm actually going to follow through on them. Possibility is key and even though some of the plans we speak of now won't be happening for maybe another year or so, but just to know that it WILL be happening soon... crazy.

Life is doing well for now. I mean, with a few exceptions here and there, but that's to be expected. At the rate things are going, I think I'm going to be happy for a long time. And it feels good, y'know?

// A big, big love.

Oh Matt. You're so wonderful. All this talk of posting though, makes me want to post something big and epic and masterful... alas. I'll settle for strange thoughts.

So I am in a place right now where I am happy. But not esctatic. But that's okay because being esctatic sometimes can alter your perception of things. Not always the greatest. But I am happy and it's great. I'm never questioning things, I never have to second-guess anything... I can talk about anything and he doesn't mind at all. We fit. Anyway, our list of adjectives so far...

Matt thought we were quirky at first. Jamie said cute. Tessa said cute "and I really mean it!". Chelsea says perfect. Sam says "so cute it hurts". Would anyone else like to add an adjective?

Also, he bought me gelato. <3

// The Once Proud

This is a tribute for all those who used to be a part of the famous blog Whatever!

Andrew - One of the most famous members, however, he had his own blog to take care of. He was kind of a special guest.

Anne - She didn't live up to her expectations and only posted once, and it wasn't the most impressive post. She didn't last long.

Nellissa - She, as well, was not big on posting, with only one post and was out quickly.

Kasi - Again, posted once, was kicked out...

Joel - He was definitely one of are most unique members as he was from New Zealand! He posted a couple things, and his posts were always entertaining. Unfortunately, he resigned due to a hard working New Zealand life.

Sam - She was fun having around! One of the original members of the blog and she always posted something cool! It's a shame she stopped posting because it was nice to have somebody post from Stephanie's side...Kind of, even though I was the one who brought her in, before Stephanie was a member!

Ben - Again, one of are original members and Ben always had some good posts; they were short and sweet. Ultimately, he just stopped posting, just like Sam, but it was a pleasure having him on board!

Brendon - Like the Marc-Andre Fleury of hockey; high expectations, starts of well, but then doesn't show up anymore. Brendon was a key member when he posted, and he had some great things to post about. However, he just couldn't keep up to blog life and real life

Thanks to all past members, even if you just posted a little bit, you still have made this blog! Special thanks to visitors Andrew, Rheba, and the people who used to visit, Dave and Pinto. You guys rock!

Special thanks to Steph! She's always stayed strong in posting! We love you!

Looking for new members to help spice up the place! Apply with in.

// Rattle me, run with me.

Matt pretty much covered everything 'cept the following.

1. I won a t-shirt by being an awesome cheerleader. I like attention, in case you haven't noticed.
2. Shannon and I watched Elvis movies in the morning. It was pimp, okay?
3. I learned that "cucumbers = pickles" from watching the Magic School Bus.
4. I bought some really good chocolate soy milk from Save-On on the Friday night.
5. Matt and Kyle terrified me with the singing deer.
6. I was so impressed by the sound during worship. Those are some might fine monitors, speakers, soundboard, etc...
7. Mike Larson melted my face off.
8. Finally met Luke! Too bad his band broke up a year and a half ago.
9. I had really good hair all weekend. It was hot, okay? Yeah.
10. Soggy egg rolls are really good. Thanks Kyle!
11. I missed Haig.
12. Wedding Crashers was funny. Kyle was shocked. TEE HEE!
13. I want my own copy of Garage Band now.
14. Matt didn't steal me the sign from A&W. I am severely disappointed.
15. Andrew gave me candy to say sorry that I couldn't go down the guys' hall in the dorms at Summit. So that made it all better.
16. Uh. I can't think of anything else. OH. I took a four hour nap when I got back yesterday. That's pretty sweet.
17. God wants me to do something crazy. I am not so sure about this. We will have to discuss this further. I'll let you guys know what comes of this.

Anyway. All in all, a good weekend.

// Thirsty?

This weekend was Merge weekend, and I honestly was blown away! I mean... I was completely blown away... I've divided this post in two parts; The Fun and The Real Thing.

The Fun
immediately when I arrived at the church I knew that this was going to be an awesome weekend. I went up in the White Twinkie, which is now the new name of the van, and I like it! Inside the twinkie was Kyle, Andy, and I. We stopped at McDonalds in Richmond first for food, and both Kyle and I got chicken nuggests! Brilliant idea! It was too last us both for the night, and morning! I finished my nuggets on the ride up, while Kyle was chewing down on nuggests the next morning!

I was completely overjoyed Friday after the first session. We checked into are hotel and we were so noisy, and I loved it! Once settled in, we went to Save-On-Foods where there was this moose head on the wall and it freaked me out so bad!!!! I then got 8 chocolate bars, Oh Henry and Eat More, and 2 liters of Coke and 2 liters of Sprite! That was awesome...lasted us the entire weekend (I still have like 1.5 liters of mixed pop in my fridge). Kyle and I ordered up Stleath which turned out to be an okay movie. It was entertaining, yet I had trouble staying awake. We ended up going to bed at about 2am, thus ending Friday!

Saturday we woke up an hour earlier then expected, and I was sleepy! Quickly I shook of my sleepy ways, and was back in action! The afternoon included a trip to The House of James where I purchased my new bible! It's pretty styling and its covered with metal so I'll never destroy it! After that, we dropped Annick off at the hotel, and went to A&W for a light snack. Stephanie was beating me up, and then she started laughing for a reason I'm still unsure off, and I just laughed because Steph is just so awesome. We then visited Andrew up at Summit. I was going to say hi to Dave, but he wasn't there! Boo! Twas a quick visit, but it was good to see Andrew again. A trip to Swiss Chalet happened after picking up Annick, and I wasn't to impressed, and then we went to the third session. Afterwards, I think a lot of use were blown away, or just tired, so we were really quiet. Even thought we were tired, we still managed to get Steph into are hotel room and watch Wedding Crashers! Funny movie... Another 2am bed time...

I woke up at 9am, fully refreshed, but to only see an empty bed beside me... Kyle left early with Andy, and I missed both of them, I was the only guy left. Nevertheless, I would not let it ruin my day. Steph came over to entertain me, and we duked it out in a pillow fight, revenge from Historymaker 04, it was long anticipated! Muhahaha! She says she won, but really, I did. Steph was more impressed with her stuffed French toast from IHOP that morning though, and I do admit, it was a good omelet I had. After the fourth session we made are way home... And I truly had an enjoyable time.

The Real Thing
Let me start off right at the beginning... We were given nuts. These nuts were put on the earth for a reason, had endless possibilities, was God's creation, and he loved it; just like us. We were put on this earth for a reason, we have endless possibilities, and God loves us! That makes me excited! That made me feel renewed almost! This was at the first Session, which started at 8pm, and we arrived at about 7:30. Leading worship that night, and every other session, was Michael Larson. I love this guy... He is incredibly talented. He has an awesome voice, and he can really worship. He was an inspiration, and I really could worship God that weekend. He was originally from the band Flood, then Surreal, and I recognized a couple of songs off one of the CD's I have, which was really cool. The speaker who spoke for three of the nights was Ian Green, director of Next Level International. I thought he was a great speaker, and he sometimes yelled, which freaked me out.

The things that stood out the most this weekend was the one of the truth talks, and the third session. During the truth talk for leaders, the person leading it said we can't make excuses anymore...And I realized that I had to stop making excuses... That was huge in my life, my whole relationship with God is an excuse... I realized that had to stop.

The third session Ian Green was telling us how he was pick-pocketed, getting is wallet stolen with his passport, credit card, and $300US. He told us how he wasn't pleased, but he said the Lord was telling him that he was blessed.

I am Blessed. That's so amazing...We are blessed.

One more important thing I took from the weekend is that God keeps on giving, no matter what we do or say. He loves us and we are a work of art; a master piece. This helped me since I had turned my back on God these past couple of months, and I have finally realized it's time to step up and make myself a better Christian. Another important thing I learned, the best way to change your life, is to change somebody else's life.

I had an awesome time, and now I will start to rekindle my relationship with God. I can't let this fire burn out, or grow cold.

I am blessed.

// I'm Of to The Merge

All Summiters who visit, i'm coming to visit you! Mainly Andrew and Dave. Please excuse the lack of posting as both Stephanie and me will be gone! Have a good weekend!

// "I don't think so, buddy."

Okay, so I haven't posted in awhile. I know, I know. But really, I have a good excuse.

Friday: Youth! Youth was excellent. I'd never heard the band play so well! Jousting was excellent as well, especially the part where I tried to do backflips on the mat. Don't worry. One day, I'll get them right. I actually sat down to write something, but then I got an interesting phone call that ended up going for two hours. That hurts the cell phone bill. But really, it was the most hilarious call I've ever received.

Saturday: I went to Seylynn Hall in North Vancouver for the Karmacanix show and I haven't danced that long in quite awhile. Anyway, it was super awesome because the band was on fire and the crowd was just intense. Wow.

Sunday: VIDEO GAMES LIVE! Haig, Terri, and I went to see Video Games Live at the Queen E Theatre. The Seattle Symphony Orchestra performed some of the most popular video game themes, set to images and videos and some intense lighting tech work. Wow. I am blown away, still.

Monday: I went downtown to see Rocky Horror Picture Show with Haig, Chelsea, and Sarah. LIKE, AMAZING. It was sooo funny. All four of us even got to go up on stage 'cause Haig knew pretty much like, half the cast. It was hilarious. Best Halloween ever. I am so making this a tradition. The RHPS, I mean.

So there you have it. It was a pretty full weekend and I am still trying to wind down and catch up on some of the sleep. Oh dear!
